The ‘X3D’ lineup of desktop gaming processors will continue to be targeted by system builders who wish to get the most out of their systems when it comes to maximizing their framerates, and that only means that parts like the Ryzen 7 7800X3D will be available at higher prices than the competition. Thankfully, you get a small breather in the form of a 6 percent discount on Amazon, and thanks to the online retailer’s Big Spring Sale, the previous-generation CPU is now available for $420.
The updated listing is now a bit more affordable than the previous $449, which made the Ryzen 7 9800X3D a more viable option given that it is currently available on Amazon for $479. Now, there is a $59 price difference between the two generations, and given that there is not much of a performance delta when running games, we can assume that value-focused customers will want to grab the Ryzen 7 7800X3D.
The benefit here is that compatible motherboards are available on Amazon at lowered prices, so the overall cost of building the entire PC will be reduced substantially. Also, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D can hardly be categorized as ancient, and it would play very nicely with your new gaming rig. The CPU is armed with 8 cores and 16 threads, along with 96MB of L3 cache, with a base clock speed of 4.20GHz that can boost to 5.00GHz.
Assuming you can spare an additional $59, you can always get AMD’s latest and greatest Ryzen 7 9800X3D, but that will require you to wait until April, as that is when the processor will reach your doorstep. With the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, you can expect the unit to reach you by March 28.
