AMD is set to bring back one of the most popular X3D chips, which will help boost sales of AM4 platform and offer gamers a new hope.
AMD to Re-Launch 8-Core/16-Thread Zen 3-Based Ryzen 7 5800X3D Processor In Q2 2026 As it Completes 10-Years of AM4 Launch
We have awesome news for you guys! AMD is reportedly bringing the most popular Ryzen 5000 processor to the market. After discontinuing it last year, AMD is now re-launching the Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor very soon, and the timing couldn't be better. AMD's Ryzen 7 5800X3D launched in April 2022 as the first X3D processor, featuring the 3D V-Cache technology.
As spotted by @9550pro, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D is set to launch in Q2 2026, and is part of AMD's AM4 10-year anniversary. The AM4 platform was launched in 2016, and it will complete 10 years, and is still the most dominant previous-gen platform AMD has ever made. We still see AM4 CPUs, specifically the Ryzen 5000 series sell like hotcakes, completely overshadowing the Intel CPU stack.
After Ryzen 5000 made its debut in late 2020, AMD followed up with its first X3D chip, called Ryzen 7 5800X3D, two years later. The CPU was the first to bring an additional 64 MB of L3 cache using a dedicated chiplet on top of the 8-core CCD. This helped improve gaming performance significantly, and to this day, we see Ryzen 5800X3D being among the top performers in gaming benchmarks.
The processor can boost up to 4.5 GHz and is rated at 105W TDP, though real-world power consumption is often close to half that figure. Currently, AMD only sells 6-core Ryzen 5000X3D variants in the market, including the 5600X3D and 5500X3D, but those are limited to a few regions. With the ongoing RAM and SSD shortages, many have transitioned to older DDR4 platforms such as AM4, which leaves gamers with no other option than Ryzen 5000 series.
Since Ryzen 5600X3D and 5500X3D are limited in availability, most users settle for options like Ryzen 5800X or Ryzen 5600X, which are noticeably slower than their X3D counterparts. Thankfully, AMD listened and is bringing back the strongest Zen 3 chip for gaming ever made. We can't wait to see it in the market as many have been waiting to upgrade from older Ryzen chips.
