AMD is not giving up on its AM4 platform anytime soon as it brings more value to gamers with the Ryzen 7 5700X3D & 5700 for sub $250 US prices.
AMD Targets Intels Budget Dominance With Ryzen 7 5700X3D $249 & Ryzen 7 5700 $175 US CPUs For AM4 Desktop PCs, Up To 100 MB Cache For Gamers
The AM4 platform is the longest-lived platform from AMD and any other chipmaker which is still going strong even to this day. While the AM5 platform has seen its fair share of price reductions over the past couple of months, getting more affordable and offering various optimizations in the form of DDR5 support and more, AMD still wants to offer something refreshing to its AM4 user base.
For this purpose, the company has unveiled its brand new Ryzen 7 5700X3D & Ryzen 7 5700 CPUs.
AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D CPU Specifications - $249 US With 100 MB 3D V-Cache
The AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D is very similar to the 5800X3D with 8 cores and 16 threads. It comes with a reduced clock speed of 3.0 GHz base and 4.1 GHz boost but retains the 105W TDP and also gets 100 MB of cache (96 MB L3 + 4 MB L2). The chip still lacks overclocking support but the main selling point is its price which at $249 US is very disruptive for gamers.
In terms of performance, AMD claims up to 13% faster performance at 1080p and a 5.7% increase on average versus the Intel Core i5-13600K which retails at the same price. This should put the chip on par with the Core i9-13900K and is very disruptive for gamers who want a lower-priced V-Cache chip with more than 6 cores (5600X3D).
AMD Ryzen 7 5700 CPU Specifications - Most Affordable Zen 3 8-Core For AM4 Desktops
The other chip that AMD has introduced is the Ryzen 7 5700 which is the most affordable 8-core Zen 3 CPU, retailing at $175 US. This chip features 8 cores, 16 threads, 20 MB of cache, a clock of 3.7 GHz base, 4.6 GHz boost, and a 65W TDP. The CPU will come bundled with an AMD Wraith Spire cooler.
In terms of performance, the Ryzen 7 5700 offers competitive gaming performance versus the Core i5-12400F which does retail for slightly lower (~$150 US) but requires users to upgrade to a whole new platform which will be replaced by an even newer one later this year.
The AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D & Ryzen 7 5700 CPUs will be available for retail across global retailers on the 31st of January. For those who want something on the AM5 platform, AMD also has the Ryzen 8000G APUs while AM4 also gets an APU upgrade in the form of the Ryzen 5000GT series.
