Another AMD Phoenix Laptop APU has leaked out and this time, we are looking at the Ryzen 5 7540U which is part of the low-power family.

AMD Ryzen 5 7540U "Phoenix" APU Features Low-Power Design, Packs 6 Zen 4 Cores, and Radeon 740M iGPU

The AMD Ryzen 5 7540U is among the three Phoenix U-series chips that have been revealed so far. The other two are the Ryzen 7 7840U and the Ryzen 5 7640U. This new chip is the most entry-tier design in the lineup so far and based on the information available, it adopts the Zen 4 architecture in a low-power package. AMD hasn't announced any Phoenix-U chips yet but these are likely to be announced around the same time when the standard Phoenix chips launch this month.

A tweet from Twitter user "Olrak" hints at a Business Applications Performance Corporation's CrossMark result on a new Lenovo notebook that features the said AMD Ryzen 5 7540U APU.

The Lenovo notebook was tested on March 22nd, 2023, and shows model number LNVNB161216. The CPU illustrated in the BAPCo CrossMark benchmark results info is AMD's Ryzen 5 7540U w/ Radeon 740M Graphics and offers 6 cores across 12 threads (Logical Processors). The architecture is x64 with quad-channel 16 GB of DDR5-6400 memory.

The information also reveals that the screen resolution of the test system was set to 2240 x 1400px and was running Microsoft Windows 11 Pro. The additional leverage, confirming the new processor, comes from scores from Nero AI's Score! Benchmarking PC application.

The results show that the test system is from ASUS and is one of the ROG Flow X13 laptops. The AMD processor is shown to be an engineering sample, listed as 100-000000966-50_Y, but shows identical cores and threads as the previously mentioned CrossMark results. It also shares the same AMD Radeon 740M Graphics with a Western Digital SN740 512 GB SSD and also the same onboard memory size of 16 GB. The display resolution on this particular model was tested at 1920 x 1080px.

The above information does not specify the exact model due to the date it was conducted one month prior. The data also reveals that no changes were made between the engineering sample and finalized tests, indicating the confirmed specifications of the new processor with integrated graphics. The AMD Radeon 740M Graphics are expected to perform below the company's 780M and 760M integrated graphics and are part of the RDNA3 architecture.

There are rumors that the AMD Ryzen 7040 Phoenix U-Series may end up getting a hybrid Zen 4 configuration and will be the first Phoenix 2 chips with standard and low-power optimized Zen 4 cores though that remains to be seen.
