The cheapest X3D chip is now available in more regions, offering higher gaming performance at a budget price.

Retailer PC Tec UK Lists AMD Ryzen 5 5500X3D for 179 Pounds as AMD Expands its Availability

AMD needs more of these, as the market cannot survive without DDR4 platforms at the moment. AMD's long-lasting AM4 platform is single-handedly saving the hardware market from the RAM shortages, and its Ryzen 5000 series still sells like hotcakes. Unfortunately, AMD discontinued the most powerful Ryzen 5000 gaming processors, i.e., the Ryzen 7 5700X3D and 5800X3D, last year, but thankfully, the Ryzen 5600X3D and Ryzen 5500X3D are still available, though they are limited.

Ryzen 5 5500X3D remains AMD's cheapest X3D offering that launched last year, but it was initially limited to LATAM (Latin America). This year, it started to appear in more regions, such as China, even though AMD hasn't officially announced its expansion. Ryzen 5 5500X3D has now appeared at a UK retailer called "PC Tec UK", at a price tag of 179 pounds or US$237. So, the processor has silently entered the UK (though it remains only available at PC Tec UK), and it's likely that we could see the processor in the EU region soon.

The processor appeared at the retailer as an OEM edition, unlike how it was launched in China. Still, it's good to have more AM4-compatible gaming processors in the mainstream market for users who cannot get their hands on a faster Ryzen 5600X3D processor that remains strictly available in select stores. Ryzen 5 5500X3D is close to 5600X3D in gaming performance as the chip offers the same 6-core/12-thread configuration based on the Zen 3 architecture.

The Ryzen 5 5500X3D offers 96 MB of total L3 cache, making it an appealing processor for gaming, and with careful budgeting, users can build a powerful gaming PC around this chip for under $1300. Right now, you will mostly find Ryzen 5600 or Ryzen 5800X/XT processors in abundance, which are a decent choice for gaming builds, but cannot compete with X3D variants when it comes to gaming. Hopefully, AMD brings both Ryzen 5 5500X3D and 5600X3D to other regions soon.
