US retailer, B&H, has revealed that it will be taking pre-orders for AMD's Radeon RX 9070 XT & RX 9070 "RDNA 4" GPU starting 23rd January.
Gamers Can Pre-Order AMD's Next-Gen Radeon RX 9070 XT & RX 9070 "RDNA 4" GPUs On The 23rd of January
AMD recently announced its Radeon RX 9070 series based on the RDNA 4 architecture, which includes the Radeon RX 9070 XT & RX 9070 GPUs. The company didn't reveal much info, but the marketing team let the press know that there would be more information shared this month. With that said, a few AIBs went out of the way to reveal some key information, and it looks like we are finally looking at an expected pre-order date.
As per US retailer, B&H, it looks like AMD's first Radeon RX 9070 series GPUs will be available for pre-orders starting the 23rd of January at 9 AM (Eastern Time). This is just one retailer who is only listing the ASUS models, so we cannot confirm if this is the finalized pre-order date, but it looks like the launch might take place at a later date. The GPUs are expected to be available in Q1 2025, but we don't know when exactly, since AMD didn't provide any clear information. There are no prices or specs mentioned so we will have to wait for those too.
AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT & Radeon RX 9070 Available In Q1 2025, RX 9060 Series Later
For products, AMD will first be introducing two graphics cards based on the RDNA 4 architecture, the Radeon RX 9070 XT and the Radeon RX 9070. These GPUs will come equipped with up to 16 GB of video memory. The Radeon RX 9070 XT will compete against the RTX 4070 Ti while the RX 9070 will compete against the RTX 4070. The Radeon RX 9060 series will be competing against the RTX 4060 series.
AMD is also simplifying the naming scheme to sync with its Ryzen 9000 series CPUs, while the GPU model naming has been simplified to match that of its competitors. So, the 9070 equals an NVIDIA "70" class competitor, while the 9060 equals an NVIDIA "60" class competitor. The XT and non-XT variants have the same segmentation as before, with the XT being the higher-end offering, while the non-XT variant is designed to be a more cost-effective offering.
Both the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT and Radeon RX 9070 GPUs will be available in both reference and non-reference flavors from leading AIBs such as ASUS, ASRock, Gigabyte, PowerColor, XFX, ACER, Sapphire, Yeston and Vastarmor.
AMD will be sharing more information on its RDNA 4 GPUs in the coming days, so stay tuned as we enter the fourth iteration of the RDNA architecture. In the meantime, do check out our hands-on with the custom models of these GPUs here.
