The first AMD Genoa-X CPU sample, the EPYC 9684X, has been spotted at Chinese 3rd party-seller, Goofish and features an 1152 MB cache.

AMD Genoa-X Shows Up On 3rd Party Seller, EPYC 9684X ES CPU With 96 Cores & 1152 MB L3 Cache

Although the IHS of the alleged AMD EPYC 9684X "Genoa-X" CPU matches that of an SP5 chip, there are no details listed that can verify if this is a true 3D V-Cache Genoa-X part. It is listed under AMD's EPYC 9004 family (110.10 SP5) and while the seller mentioned that it is a fully functioning chip, you cannot confirm for sure until you pay the 9000 RMB ($1308 US) for the chip and have it tested on a proper SP5 platform.

What we do know from previous leaks is that the AMD EPYC 9684X SKU is definitely going to be a part of the Genoa-X family. This chip was confirmed in a leak by Yuuki_AnS as a Zen 4 server part with 96 cores, 192 threads, and 1152 MB of L3 cache.

So for AMD's EPYC Genoa-X CPUs, that's 384 MB of L3 cache from the CCDs, 768 MB of L3 cache from the 3D V-Cache stacks, & 96 MB of L2 cache for a total of 1248 MB cache. There are also 3 MB of L1 cache (Instruction/data).

This is 2.6x higher cache than the standard Genoa chips and also a 56% increase in cache amount versus the Milan-X (1st Gen EPYC 3D V-Cache chips). All EPYC Genoa-X chips will be rated at 400W with TDPs configurable down to 320W.

Clock speeds have not been mentioned but AMD's EPYC Genoa-X chips will have a maximum clock frequency range of up to 3.7 GHz which is the same as the EPYC 9654 96-Core Genoa CPU. These chips also feature a peak thermal range of 100C.

All chips will be positioned at cache-optimized workloads as was the case with the previous generation of 3D V-Cache EPYC CPUs. The AMD EPYC Genoa-X CPUs are expected to hit servers by the mid of 2023.
