While the other three 4th Gen EPYC launches targeted the SP5 platform, the EPYC 8004 "Siena" family will be rounding things off on the SP6 platform. The lineup concludes the 4th Gen family which also includes Genoa, Genoa-X, & Bergamo, all featuring the Zen 4 & Zen 4C architecture.

Following are some of the main highlights of today's launch:

The AMD SP6 platform and EPYC 8004 Siena CPU lineup will be a more TCO-optimized offering for low-end servers. It will be a 1P solution, offering 6-channel memory, 96 PCIe Gen 5.0 lanes, 48 lanes for CXL V1.1+, and 8 PCIe Gen 3.0 lanes. The platform will feature Zen 4 EPYC CPUs but only entry-level solutions with up to 32 Zen 4 and up to 64 Zen 4C cores under the EPYC Siena family.

Coming to the SKUs, the AMD EPYC 8004 "Siena" CPU family will consist of a total of 12 chips that range from 8 cores, all the way up to 64 cores. The flagship chip will be the EPYC 8534P which will feature 64 cores, 128 threads, a base clock of 2.3 GHz & a boost clock of 3.1 GHz.

Being based on the Zen 4C architecture means that it will host 128 MB of L3 cache compared to 256 MB of cache that you'd get on a standard Zen 4 design. This chip has a default TDP of 200W that can be tuned up to 225W and down to 155W. The "N" variant of this chip is specifically designed for networking-oriented usage and has a set TDP of 175W which also lowers the base clocks down to 2 GHz.

The AMD EPYC 8004 "Siena" CPU package includes four Zen 4C CCDs, each offering up to 16 cores and a 16 MB L3 cache. The same CCDs in their classic Zen 4 variation offer up to 32 cores and a 16 MB L3 cache. These chips are the closest thing we might see before AMD launches its TRX50 HEDT chips under the next-gen Threadripper lineup which is anticipated to launch later this year.

Each chip comes in the "P" and "N" variations, supporting DDR5-4800 memory with up to 1.152 TB of capacity. Considering that the Zen 4 & Zen 4C cores share the same ISA, these chips retain AVX-512 support in addition to SMT and Core frequency boost. All chips are packaged using Infinity Fabric interconnects with Infinity Guard security solutions. You can expect all major Edge partners of AMD to unveil their latest racks and networking solutions featuring the EPYC 8004 "Siena" CPUs.
