AMD has officially brought ROCm to Radeon RX 7000 & Radeon PRO W7000 GPUs with the latest Linux driver release.
AMD Radeon RX 7000 & Radeon PRO W7000 GPU Owners Can Now Enjoy ROCm Support Through Latest Linux Drivers
AMD had previously teased ROCm support for consumer Radeon GPUs and now the day is finally here. Starting with the Radeon Linux 23.20 driver release, Radeon RX 7000 & Radeon PRO W7000 GPUs will get full support for ROCm while also delivering faster and optimized AI acceleration with RDNA 3 architecture.
Radeon Software for Linux 23.20 Highlights
- Introducing PyTorch 2.0.1 support through ROCm on Radeon RX 7900XTX and Radeon PRO W7900
- Beta support for multiple RX 7900XTX or W7900 GPUs (x2 current maximum)
Known Issues
- Running PyTorch with iGPU enabled + Discrete GPU enabled may cause crashes. See the Limitations section within the How To Guide for details.
- Display may remain off after waking from standby while running ROCm workloads. It is recommended to not allow display to turn off during ML workloads (configurable in Ubuntu settings).
- Blender exhibits intermittent hangs when using cycles render in HIP mode and running separate ML workload at same time.
- Intermittent gpureset errors may be seen with Automatic 1111 webUI with IOMMU enabled. Please see https://community.amd.com/t5/knowledge-base/tkb-p/amd-rocm-tkb for suggested resolutions.
