Apple’s M4 MacBook Air family is getting phased out in favor of the new 13-inch and 15-inch M5 MacBook Air, and to get buyers immediately interested, Amazon has introduced a $50 discount on all models shortly after these machines were officially released. What that means is the original $1,099 starting price has been reduced to $1,049.99, and best of all, you get more base storage for the cheapest portable Mac.

Irrespective of which configuration or paint job you choose on the online retailer, every M5 MacBook Air model listed on Amazon is $50 cheaper. What’s interesting about this deal is that there’s no visual indication that a price cut was introduced, but if you visit Apple’s online store, the base model is going for $1,099.
Nearly every aspect of the M5 MacBook Air is identical to the M4 MacBook Air, but Apple has added a massive speed boost with an upgraded SSD. Now, both the 13-inch and 15-inch models perform similarly in the 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro, making them even more responsive than before.
Also, the M5 is slightly faster than the M4 and more efficient, thanks to being mass produced on TSMC’s 3nm ‘N3P’ process. The new Macs are tailor-made to tackle every task out there, and for the majority of buyers, not only does this machine punch above its weight class, but its base configuration isn’t outrageously priced either.
Looking at the DRAM and NAND flash shortage, Apple has gone in the opposite direction of its competitors, offering a complete computer without charging a ludicrous premium. Unfortunately, we cannot confirm when this deal will expire, but if you’re in the market for a hardware upgrade, the M5 MacBook Air should be at the top of your list.
