The company previously listed its Area-51 desktop specs with the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, but later said it was an error.
Dell Alienware Launches Area-51 Desktop With AMD's Latest Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Processor; Retail Launch Scheduled for April 22
Dell was one of the first companies to confirm the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 before the official launch. However, the company later said that it was an error, and they meant "Ryzen 7 9850X3D". Still, we already knew that Dell would launch a configuration with Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 after the processor's official launch, as multiple reports already confirmed the existence of the processor.
Today, Dell's Alienware X handle officially announced the new Area-51 desktop configuration that will consist of the new 16-core/32-thread Zen 5 flagship Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 processor. This processor is the first to bring a dual X3D chiplet design, featuring 192 MB of L3 cache and a total of 208 MB cache for superior gaming/productivity performance.
The processor has retained most of its specs from the Ryzen 9 9950X3D, but the additional 64 MB L3 cache and a higher TDP of 200W make it much more powerful. Dell says the Area-51 desktop with the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 will appear on the shelves on April 22, and it will be its most powerful pre-built desktop yet.
While detailed specifications haven't been revealed, we can expect the system to feature top-of-the-line hardware such as up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090, up to 64 GB of DDR5 dual-channel RAM, and storage options of up to 4 TB. The current configuration with the Ryzen 7 9850X3D already includes these components, which suggests the flagship configuration is unlikely to feature anything less than the hardware mentioned above.
The chassis and its design will remain the same as per the pics posted by Alienware. However, the company hasn't announced its price. Considering Alienware desktops are already quite expensive, with the flagship hardware such as Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 and GeForce RTX 5090, we are already expecting a hefty price tag of over $5000 at the minimum.
