The September 9th event unveiled some major products, including the much-awaited launch of the iPhone 16. The star of the show remained the new iPhone series, but the company also introduced some great upgrades in processing power by introducing the A18 Pro bionic chipset, which is considered to be the most advanced chip to date. Compared to its predecessor, the A17 Pro, it is said to deliver some massive performance improvements.

The A18 Pro chipset introduced with the iPhone 16 lineup is super efficient and outperforms the A17 Pro chipset in processing power

Many have been hooked to the release of the iPhone 16 lineup for the new features, design, and other upgrades that will come with it. However, the new iPhone lineup is not the talk of the town for the specification and outlook of the models but rather for the big leap Apple has taken in terms of the processor. While the A17 Pro chip was reserved for the iPhone 15 Pro variant, the latest iPhone 16 Pro models would be coming with the new A18 Pro chip.

The A18 Pro chip has long been doing the rounds for being equipped with the most efficient and advanced technology that helps with processing speed and power, making the A18 Pro chip significantly faster than the previous A17 Pro.

To draw a better comparison, we have benchmark results for the A18 Pro chip, and from the scores, we can see that in both single and multi-score, the A18 Pro chip outperformed the A17 Pro. Apple did talk about the performance of the A18 Pro during the keynote and claimed that the new chipset was 15 percent faster than the A17 Pro. If we see the single-core score of the A18 Pro, the statement does stand true, for the results show the performance to be 18 percent better than the predecessor.

If we see the multi-core results, the A18 Pro stands at 8,492 while the A17 Pro scored 7,192. If the two are compared, the A18 seems to surpass the previous chipset. Geekbench paralleled the performance of the new chipset with that of the M1 chip that came in the Mac mini 2020 model.

Apple remains at the forefront in terms of mobile processing power and promises YoY performance gains, maintaining the company's leading position in smartphone performance. With the new A18 Pro chip, Apple has made significant improvements and continues to boast the fastest CPU in smartphones.
