IO Interactive's James Bond game, which we now know is called 007 First Light, got its first proper reveal during Sony's State of Play presentation for June 2025, with a cinematic trailer that introduces IO's take on the famous spy, before a gameplay trailer will arrive later this week.
It was quite a surprise to see 007 First Light so soon. IO Interactive has its own showcase on Friday, so everyone just expected to see it then, but now it's safe to assume that's when the gameplay will be revealed.
We also now have a proper 2026 release window for the game, which makes the coming gameplay all the more exciting. If the gameplay delivers based on what we saw in this cinematic trailer, it's exciting to know that IO Interactive will have another whole year to polish it and make 007 First Light look even better than what we're already seeing.
Perhaps the best thing about this trailer is that it gives the impression that IO Interactive is delivering on a classic rendition of James Bond. He's got the gadgets, the charm, the car chases, all mixed in with a few action-packed scenarios that Bond always finds himself in.
It's looking like the combination of IO Interactive and James Bond is going to be even better than we thought.
