A couple of modders are currently working on an offline mod for the troubled The Day Before, which would add an offline mode.

Enough has been said and written about the troubled game. Just days after the release of the game in early access earlier this month, development studio Fntastic closed its doors. “Today, we announce the closure of Fntastic studio", the team wrote earlier this month. "Unfortunately, The Day Before has failed financially, and we lack the funds to continue. All income received is being used to pay off debts to our partners. We invested all our efforts, resources, and man-hours into the development of The Day Before, which was our first huge game. We really wanted to release new patches to reveal the full potential of the game, but unfortunately, we don't have the funding to continue the work."

Servers were expected to stay up for the time being, but last week, it was announced that the game's servers would be shut down this January as well. In addition, Valve announced that it would be doing "proactive" refunds for those who bought the game on Steam.

Interestingly enough, X users 'Luci0' and 'fskartd' are currently working on a crack that would reroute the game's server connection to a local connection. In theory, this would allow owners of the game to play it offline. At the moment of writing, there's no ETA for this crack, and more information will be shared as soon as it becomes available. Although we weren't really a fan of the title, we can imagine that at least some will be interested in this development.

Announced back in 2021 for PC and consoles, The Day Before was supposed to be released last year. A month before the game's planned release in 2022, the development team announced a delay due to a supposed switch from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5.
