Global data research and consulting firm Newzoo has shared its latest report for the video game industry for October 2025, showcasing the top 20 games by both revenue and monthly active users (MAU). Unsurprisingly, Battlefield 6 appears near or at the top of the charts on both lists, with other big October releases like ARC Raiders also making an appearance on both lists.
Overall, it was a shooter-dominated month, with eleven shooters appearing in the top 20 games for MAU for players in the US, UK, France, Italy, Germany, and Spain, and seven shooters in the top 20 games for revenue in the same regions.
Battlefield 6 and its free-to-play battle royale counterpart, Battlefield REDSEC, led the charge on the revenue list, taking the top spot over EA Sports FC 26 in second and Fortnite in third. ARC Raiders made the list in seventh place, above Call of Duty and Counter-Strike, further showcasing just how successful its launch month was.
Other new games in October that weren't shooters, like Ghost of Yotei and Pokémon Legends Z-A, also made the list in fourth and fifth place, respectively, with NBA 2K26 holding sixth place just ahead of ARC Raiders.
On the MAU list, Battlefield 6 did not claim the top spot, but it did make it to third place, trailing behind Fortnite in first and Call of Duty in second. ARC Raiders made the list in the 18th spot, while Pokémon Legends Z-A made the list in the 15th spot, which is arguably the most impressive placement on the entire MAU list because it's the only game that is not necessarily multiplayer-focused.
With Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 out this month, it'll be interesting to see how Newzoo's report for November shakes up. While we've seen reports of Black Ops 7 not performing well, it's still too early to count out such a juggernaut like Call of Duty. We'll have to wait until we're closer to the end of the year to really get a sense of whether this year's Call of Duty lost to Battlefield 6 in any meaningful capacity.
