Samsung appears to be deliberately pricing the upcoming Galaxy Z TriFold at a very attractive price point in anticipation of Apple's iPhone Fold, which is expected to launch in the second half of 2026.

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold to be priced at $2,447 vs. the $2,399 price point for the Apple iPhone Fold

According to the South Korean rumor aggregating website, yeux1122's blog, Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Z TriFold is expected to start retailing for 3.6 million won ($2,447) in South Korea vs. its previous expected price of around 4 million won ($2,719).

This means that the triple-folding device from Samsung would be just ~$50 (or 2 percent) more expensive than Apple's first foldable, which is expected to start retailing for around $2,399. This pricing strategy should position the TriFold at a very attractive price point vs. its iPhone rival.

Do note that Samsung is expected to officially launch the Galaxy Z TriFold in early December. Some recent estimates suggest that the South Korean giant might be able to sell 120,000 units of its first triple-folding device in the post-launch 12-month period.

Galaxy Z TriFold specs

Samsung's Galaxy Z TriFold features a triple-folding form factor, replete with two hinges, where one has a tighter radius, allowing the inward folding displays to layer on top of each other, thus protecting the more sensitive inner display from the elements. This contrasts with the approach that Huawei used for its Mate XT, which combines an inward-folding display with the one that folds outwards. The thickness of the device's panels varies, ranging from 3.9mm to 4.2mm.

Additionally, the Galaxy Z TriFold features a 10-inch OLED inner display (vs. the 8-inch one on the Galaxy Fold 7) and a 6.5-inch outer one, relatively thick bezels, a triple camera setup at the back - consisting of a 200-megapixel primary camera with 100x zoom capabilities, a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom - three batteries, possibly silicon-carbon ones, with a combined capacity of either 5,437mAh or 5,600mAh, and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, all encased within a titanium shell.
