Galaxy S25 Ultra is finally unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked 2025

Samsung finally announced its most anticipated flagship phone, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, at the Galaxy Unpacked 2025, and it lives up to the hype it has been getting for months. Before the launch, much had been revealed about the Ultra model through speculations and reports, and even hours before the event, leaks had emerged, giving away some key details. With the premium model now unveiled, we see many of the rumors stand true as the titanium build sports a sleeker look and is packed with some major improvements compared to its predecessor.

Samsung unveils its Galaxy S25 Ultra model with powerful performance, thinner bezels, and an ergonomic design

The Galaxy S24 Ultra featured sharper edges and a flat frame, and while the Galaxy S25 Ultra continues the flat style around the front of its predecessor, we see the model with a sturdier titanium build and a sleeker look. One of the prominent changes in the design mirrors what leaks have suggested previously, and the Ultra model features rounded edges, giving the phone a modern look and offering better ergonomics. Users have long demanded this change, and it seems like Samsung has finally heard the whims and wishes of its users. The phone is also much lighter, standing at 218g compared to its predecessor.

The display of the S25 Ultra also marks some noteworthy improvements. One of the strengths of the model that is empathized is the second generation of Corning Gorilla Glass Armor making its debut, which would offer a visible increase in screen protection and would have the industry's first anti-reflective display. There is a marginal increase in the display size from 6.8 inches to 6.9 inches. It comes with a Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel and has a refresh rate of 120Hz, making the experience quite smooth.

The Ultra model's screen is brighter, more color-accurate, and comes with WQHD+ (3120 x 1440) resolution. The bezels are the thinnest ones yet, making the device quite slim, standing at only 8.2 mm thickness, and the model sports a wider display. While the S-Pen is included in the S25 Ultra model, it does lack Bluetooth connectivity, which is a little limiting as some of the features would not be available, such as gesture or remote control.

When it comes to the Galaxy S25 Ultra's camera specifications, the upgrades are underwhelming, but many of the improvements offered in the new model are tied to the AI integrations. The camera layout is similar to Galaxy S24 Ultra, with a 200MP primary camera, a 10MP 3x telephoto lens, and a 50 MP 5x periscope zoom lens. One of the major upgrades to the camera is the ultra-wide angle lens moving up to 50MP, which is a significant leap from the 12MP in the previous model.

Users would be able to take brighter images with an ultrawide lens as it will capture 12.5MP images using 4-in-1 pixel binning technology. The lens offers a 23.2mm focal length, a wide f/1.7 aperture, and electronic image stabilization (EIS). The resolution is 4080 x 3060, and the ISO range spans from 12 to 3200, which would allow for more detailed images and a well-balanced frame. The telephoto lens has variable capabilities, allowing users to adjust zoom levels seamlessly. With multiple fixed focal lengths, users can enjoy improved video quality and smoother transitions.

When it comes to the performance of the new S25 Ultra, Samsung had already confirmed that the Snapdragon 8 Elite would be featured in the S25 lineup, and even though there was no clarity on the models that would be powered by it, speculations did suggest that the Ultra model would most likely be powered by the same SoC. The rumors stand true as the Galaxy S25 Ultra model is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, offering a noticeable performance boost compared to the S24 Ultra. The new Ultra model also comes with increased RAM capacity from 12GB to 16GB, enhancing the phone's multitasking abilities and offering improved performance by extending support for on-device AI capabilities, while the built-in storage goes up to 1TB.

As expected, Samsung did not play around much with the battery and the fast charging capabilities, as it continues to feature a 5,000 mAh battery and supports 45W fast charging. This might leave users dismayed given how the expectations were of a more premium offering. One of the good things offered now is the next-generation Qi12 wireless charging technology, which is going to improve wireless charging speeds and enhance overall efficiency by making it easier to charge the device. The only issue is that the device does not carry the magnets and, instead the accessories have them.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra debuts with One UI 7, based on Android 15. It brings seven years of software support and improved UI and is meant to offer an advanced Galaxy AI experience. While one of the biggest selling points suggested by tipsters was the integration of Galaxy AI into the S25 lineup, it looks like the Galaxy S25 Ultra got the most optimal experience when it comes to both on-device and cloud-based AI capabilities. One of the most interesting updates is the Bixby personal assistant with generative AI capabilities that is equipped with more contextual awareness and can handle multiple commands. The Galaxy S25 Ultra would also get a full year of free access to Gemini Advanced, letting all buyers enjoy the features.

Samsung's Galaxy S25 Ultra is available in Titanium Black, Titanium Gray, Titanium Silver Blue, and Titanium White Silver. The Galaxy S25 Ultra is available for $1,299 for the 256GB variant. Some color options are exclusively available on the website including Titanium Jade Green, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Pink Gold. The pre-orders are now open and can be placed at Samsung.com, and the flagship phone will be available on February 7th.
