KLEVV CRAS V RGB 48 GB DDR5-8400 CL40 48 GB & FIT V 32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 Memory Review - High-End & Mainstream 2

The DDR5 memory segment has been seeing a lot of action as it gets standardized across all PC platforms. With memory prices dropping and the latest platforms becoming affordable, memory makers are offering new solutions all the time with some focusing on high-end specifications. In contrast, others focus on strengthening their gaming product portfolios.

With the arrival of DDR5 memory, KLEVV started to expand its memory lineup into mainstream and gaming categories. Serving the mainstream audiences are the standard SO-DIMM and U-DIMM RAM kits while the gaming side gets the more premium FIT V, BOLT V, CRAS V RGB, and CRAS XR5 RGB series memory. For today's review, we were provided KLEVV's CRAS V RGB, its more premium DDR5 line which boasts speeds of up to 8400 MT/s and comes in up to 48 GB capacities (kits).

For this review, we were sent the flagship CRAS V RGB DDR5-8400 48 GB and the mainstream FIT V DDR5-6000 32 GB memory kits.

KLEVV CRAS V RGB DDR5-8400 48 GB Memory Kit Specifications

The KLEVV CRAS V RGB memory kits are designed as the more premium and overclocker-ready kit. That's already apparent from its design and the specs on offer.  The kit I received is optimized at a clock speed of 8400 MT/s (PC5-67200). The memory kit consists of dual 24 GB DIMMs which make up a total of 48 GB in capacity.

The memory kit has a tested latency spec of CL40 and the timings are 40-52-52-134 for this specific kit. The voltages are set to 1.55V which is the high end of the spectrum. The memory kit comes in an unbuffered package with an on-die ECC (Error Correction) design. The memory kit is fully compliant with Intel's XMP and AMD EXPO profiles and can be easily set to its rated clock speeds through the BIOS shipped on the latest motherboards.

Once again, I want to talk a little bit about the premium aesthetics as the KLEVV CRAS V RGB comes in a black-color theme with silver glossy accents that look great and there's also a white option for the white PC builders out there to match their theme. The aluminum heatsink comes with an RGB diffuser which also looks great. Some of the highlighted features include:

KLEVV FIT V DDR5-6000 32 GB Memory Kit Specifications

The KLEVV FIT V memory kits are designed as the mainstream options with a solid heatsink design. That's already apparent from its design and the specs on offer.  The kit I received is optimized at a clock speed of 6000 MT/s (PC5-48000). The memory kit consists of dual 16 GB DIMMs which make up a total of 32 GB in capacity.

The memory kit has a tested latency spec of CL32 and the timings are 32-38-38-78 for this specific kit. The voltages are set to 1.35V which is slightly higher than the 1.25V default. KLEVV CRAS V RGB 48 GB DDR5-8400 Memory Kit Unboxing and Close-Up

The KLEVV CRAS V RGB memory kit is packaged in a standard cardboard box with a picture of the memory on the front along with the respective capacity and speeds.

The back of the package lists the various features of the KLEVV CRAS V RGB memory series and the respective timings can also be seen along with the serial codes.

Out of the box, you are greeted with a very premium design which I have been mentioning throughout this post.

Each module is hefty in terms of weight and the matte white color scheme looks superb. I'd say that even without RGB, these are some fantastic-looking modules with a more mature look than some other "Gaming" designs.

The heatsink has the "CRAS V RGB" branding etched in metallic silver colors and KLEVV logos in dark silver on each side of the DIMM.

The modules are a bit tall, measuring 42.5 mm in height which should be something to keep in mind when using air coolers. The rest of the modules measure 137.4mm x 8.0mm. The benefit of this larger heatsink is that the can sustain heavy loads as these modules are rated at a rather high 1.55V out of the box.

The diffuser comes with a KLEVV logo embedded on top of the acrylic cover. The whole diffuser runs the entire top length of the heatsink.

The back of each module lists the specifications including the memory capacity, memory timings, and memory clocks.

In terms of looks and design, I would say that KLEVV did nail in this department. The CRAS V RGB looks amazing and next up, we will see if its performance holds up.

Intel Z790 Test Setup

For testing, I used the latest Intel Core i9 14900K processor along with the MSI MEG Z790 ACE MAX motherboard which can support higher frequencies memory but even high-end motherboards like these require a bit of tuning to get the modules to work at their rated XMP speeds.

Gaming Performance Tests

Gaming applications generally don't see huge gains with different memory kits but DDR5 has enabled a huge gain in memory frequency which can impact gaming performance. Moving from the stock 2133 Mbps (DDR4) to 6000+ Mbps can have a huge effect on performance and the improved CAS timings on some of the high-end SKUs can result in better overall FPS and system responsiveness.

Conclusion - Top-Notch Designs For Both Enthusiasts & Mainstream PC Builders

KLEVV's CRAS V RGB memory are high-end DDR5 memory kits that are designed for enthusiasts and overclockers. Previously, I tested the DDR5-7600 kit and now, KLEVV offered us to take a look at their DDR5-8400 memory kit which retains the same great design with insane performance.

This time, the CRAS V RGB is optimized at DDR5-8400, offering lower CAS timings & the resultant reduced latencies along with lower voltages of 1.55V. The modules also feature a high-end heat-spreader with an aluminum design and a very stunning RGB Diffuser on the top. These ensure the best thermal performance while retaining fast speeds.

In terms of performance, the DDR5-8400 frequencies are on the high-end side of things given the compatibility and QVL support on AMD's AM5 and Intel's LGA 1700 socketed platforms. You'll have to check to ensure that your motherboard and CPU support the rated speeds. I used the MSI MEG Z790 ACE MAX motherboard. We had to manually tune the motherboard settings to enable support for 8400 MT/s memory since only a few select dual-DIMM boards can allow support for such high-speed DIMMs.

You will have to be wary of your CPU silicon and its IMC which can affect support for such high-end memory dies. The kit performed just as we expected, offering top-tier performance & under the right conditions, you can even gain a bit extra performance to set some good benchmarks since the performance is hardly going to be noticeable in games or applications.

In terms of pricing, the KLEVV CRAS V RGB 48 GB DDR5-8400 memory kit is priced at $379.99 US. This is a high-end kit so the high-end pricing is to be expected. Plus the use of high-end SK hynix DRAM makes sure that you are getting quality bins for overclocking and tuning purposes. There aren't a whole lot of DDR5-8400 options in the market at the moment but G.Skill's Trident Z5 Royal is the only one that comes close to this and it retails at $369.99 US at the moment while the Non-Royal kit is priced at $349.99 US.

With everything said, I think that KLEVV's CRAS V RGB memory kit is a superb solution with great looks and massive performance for those who can utilize it properly. It's built for the enthusiasts and its numbers show that very well.

Meanwhile, for those looking for a mainstream solution, the FIT V is an excellent choice which comes with a price point of around $100 US and features the sweet-spot value with 6000 MT/s speeds and CL32 timings. This kit is also optimized for low-clearance setups and it should fit in budget PCs well.
