The highly-anticipated Resident Evil 4 remake, which will release next month on PC and consoles, will get a VR mode on PlayStation 5 in the future, developer CAPCOM confirmed today.

With a new tweet on the series' official Japanese Twitter profile, the company confirmed that work on the game's VR mode has just started. This mode will not be available at launch but will be offered as a free DLC on PlayStation 5 and PSVR 2. Given how the Resident Evil 4 remake is not a first-person game, it will be really interesting to see how much the experience will differ in this VR mode.

The Resident Evil 4 remake promises to be a faithful remake of the original, but not everything that was in the original release will be in the remake, such as quick-time events. As the formerly QTE-powered iconic fight against Jack Krauser will be in the remake, however, the sequence has been changed so that it is now based on the game's new parry system, as confirmed by directors Yasuhiro Ampo and Kazunori Kadoi.

The Resident Evil 4 remake launches on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S on March 24th, 2023, worldwide. The VR mode, which will be exclusive to PlayStation 5 and PSVR 2, will launch as a free DLC on a yet-to-be-confirmed date.
