Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Today we got a new Pokémon Presents presentation, which included plenty of news on upcoming games, DLC, and more. First up, we got a new trailer and a release date for the two-party Pokémon Scarlet and Violet expansion, “The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero.” The first half of this expansion, “The Teal Mask” is set to drop in September and will see you visit the new Land of Kitakami, which has a Japanese festival theme. Based on the new trailer, it looks like you’ll also be exploring some caves and unraveling a bit of a mystery as well. As for the second half of the expansion, entitled “The Indigo Disk,” it still doesn’t have a release date, but will see players visit a new school, Blueberry Academy, set on a manmade island in the middle of the ocean. You can check out the new Hidden Treasure of Area Zero trailer, below.

In other Pokémon Scarlet and Violet news, a new co-op Terra Raid Battle featuring Mewtwo kicks off on September 1, and as part of that, everybody gets a free Mew if they enter the code “GETY0URMEW” as part of the mystery gift feature before September 18. Mew was the most sought-after, and difficult to get, Pokémon in the original Game Boy titles, so being able to get one for free ought to excite old-school fans.

But that’s not all! We also got a fresh look at Detective Pikachu Returns, including an overview of its characters and a look at some of its minute-to-minute gameplay. The game drops on October 6.

Finally, another pair of Pokegames have been added to the Nintendo Switch Online library – Pokémon: The Trading Card Game from the Game Boy and Pokémon Stadium 2.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are available now on Nintendo Switch. The Teal Mask DLC launches on September 13 and The Indigo Disk is slated for sometime near the end of the year in “winter 2023.” What do you think about the latest lineup of Poke stuff? The Scarlet and Violet DLC looks solid, but it also runs suspiciously well in the trailer – we’ll see if that holds true on actual Switch hardware.
