The Pixel 7a is only a few hours away from the official launch, and starting today, you will be able to get your hands on the device. The phone has leaked extensively in the past, with some units even showing up online for purchase way ahead of the official release date today, we have some information on the first impressions surrounding the phone, and based on that, it looks like we have a winner at our hands.
Pixel 7a early impressions make us believe that Google's going to have a home run on its hands
The first impressions are coming from Yogesh Brar, a tipster who's been giving some really credible information in the past, and according to the information revealed by Brar, the Pixel 7a looks like it is the device to beat in the mid-range segment. We don't know the international price at the time of writing, but I am sure you are looking at a sub $500 phone.
Google Pixel 7a
(quick impressions)- Premium build, in-hand feel exactly like Pixel 7, with Glass back & metal frame.
- Bright & Fluid 90Hz OLED panel, no major issues here.
- 64MP cam gets you a good amount of detail & takes classic rich shots (16MP binned), with spot-on…

According to Brar's first impressions, the Pixel 7a feels premium and offers a really good in-hand feel. The sides are metal, and the back of the phone is made out of a 3D thermoformed composite material, which feels like glass when touched. Moving further, you are looking at a fluid and bright 90Hz OLED panel, which performs as one would expect.
For the optics, the 64-megapixel main camera actually manages to capture a good amount of detail and can take some stunning binned 16-megapixel shots as well. The dynamic range works beautifully, and the 13-megapixel camera works "above average" in terms of performance.
Moving onto the performance, Brar has also mentioned that the Pixel 7a performs as expected and is similar to the Pixel 7 thanks to the Tensor G2 chipset. It is okay for casual gaming but does get warm rather quickly, with longer gaming sessions causing overheating. 5G works with full stability without any issues, and the phone manages to deliver around 5 and a half hours of screen time with normal usage. Wireless and wired charging, on the other hand, are on the slower side.
Honestly, these impressions suggest that the Pixel 7a looks like an excellent mid-ranger. However, the one thing that we don't know is the price, and I am hoping it costs under $500 because then it would become one of the most valued packed smartphones that you can get your hands on.
