NVIDIA's CEO has responded to the recent dispute surrounding an ex-TSMC executive joining Intel, stating that the Taiwan giant has done an excellent job over the years in protecting sensitive information.

NVIDIA's CEO Believes That TSMC Isn't a "One Man Show", Rather the Firm Operates In an Entire System

The Intel-TSMC fiasco has been making headlines over the past few days, notably when the Taiwan chip giant officially filed a lawsuit, claiming that former executive Dr. Wei-Jen Lo has access to 'sensitive information' that could help competitors like Intel. During his surprise visit to Taiwan around Thanksgiving, NVIDIA's CEO, Jensen Huang, was asked to comment on the recent dispute between Intel and TSMC. Jensen said that while he isn't aware of the specifics of the situation, he emphasized that TSMC is an 'entire system' and doesn't depend on just a single person, which implies that the departure of a former executive won't have a significant impact.

NVIDIA's CEO was also asked about his concerns regarding TSMC's 'lack of ability' to protect sensitive technology. He stated that TSMC has done an "excellent job" in protecting information, and Team Green has no concerns about technology leakage. Interestingly, Jensen claims that even if such an incident were to happen, replicating NVIDIA's tech stack wouldn't be easy, as it is an effort that took the company more than three decades.

Our company's technology is actually very complex, including chips, systems, and software, and there are many different types of chips, not just GPUs. These technologies are too complex and too difficult to truly understand. It took us 33 years to get to where we are today.

The Intel-TSMC dispute has now been formally taken to the courts, and just recently, Intel's CEO, Lip-Bu Tan, reacted to TSMC's lawsuit, claiming that the allegations are baseless and that Team Blue will fully support its new hire. The Taiwan chip giant claims that the former executive has access to information around critical technology, such as 2nm and EUV adoption, and based on earlier reports, it is claimed that Dr. Wei-Jen Lo had sensitive data "handwritten" in his notebooks, which is a massive concern for TSMC for now.

It would be interesting to see how the matter evolves ahead, mainly because it could involve 'geopolitical elements' as well, given that Intel is a dominant American chipmaker. For now, we'll have to wait and see what the investigation decides.
