Inno3D has shared the first performance benchmarks of NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 5050 8 GB GPU, which seems to be slower than the RTX 4060.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 8 GB Performs Similar But Mostly Slower Than The GeForce RTX 4060 8 GB GPU In 1080p Gaming Benchmarks

NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 5050 8 GB GPU is now launched, and certain models are already available in retail stores. However, no reviews or conclusive benchmarks have been shared, except for the official numbers published by NVIDIA on the announcement day. Now, Inno3D has shared some initial test results, which should give gamers a hint of what to expect from this entry-level graphics card, which is priced at $249 US.

The manufacturer has shared both synthetic and gaming performance figures. First, we will discuss the synthetic performance of the card, comparing it against the RTX 3060 and the RTX 4060. It looks like the synthetic performance of the graphics card is either ahead of or on par with the RTX 4060, so you won't feel much of a difference here. The RTX 5050 wins in the Steel Nomad, Port Royal, and Fire Strike tests while being slightly behind in Speed Way and Time Spy tests.

As for gaming benchmarks, four titles, which include Borderlands 3, Far Cry 6, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, were used. Here, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 was faster than the RTX 3060 by up to 18.5% but when compared to the GeForce RTX 4060, it ended up slightly slower. The GPU was on par with the RTX 4060 in Far Cry 6, but it lost by a few frames in the rest of the titles.

Besides this, the Inno3DGeForce RTX 5050, a dual-fan model, managed to sustain clock speeds of up to 2.6 GHz with temperatures peaking out at 65C for the GPU, and 66 °C for the memory. Additionally, the card consumed 130W of power, which is its max limit.

Now, at the time of writing this post, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 8 GB GPU is priced around $299-$329, which is essentially the same price as the RTX 5060 8 GB GPU. For $50 US more, the 5060 8 GB should be a better investment, and the RX 9060 XT 8 GB should be an even better purchase, so it makes little sense to go for a 5050 unless it drops in price to around $199 US. At the same time, the Intel Arc B580 12 GB & the B570 10 GB are superb offerings in the sub-$250 US range, so budget gamers should consider those too.
