The 8 GB edition of the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti is performing poorly, due to which NVIDIA is instructing its board partners to control its supply.

NVIDIA Shifts Focus to 16 GB Version of RTX 5060 Ti Since 8 GB Edition is Not Selling Well; Instructs AICs to Control Supply

A leaker on Board Channels informed that NVIDIA has been taking some strategic steps in order to manage its RTX 5060 Ti inventory, as there has been a huge difference in the demand of the 16 GB and 8 GB editions. Since the 8 GB RTX 5060 Ti has been selling poorly, it's now restricting its board partners to limit the supply to distributors and retailers. The measure is taken to manage the inventory according to the supply and demand, and won't let the RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB cards collect dust on the shelves.

The RTX 50 series has already stabilized, and even the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB is now mostly available at its MSRP. Since the 16 GB edition costs just $70 more than the 8 GB edition, and we also have the Radeon RX 9060 XT 16 GB card selling for the same price as the RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB, users have been avoiding the latter like the plague.

The report suggests that the 16 GB edition has been showing stronger sales, making the 8 GB card losing its value. As many triple-A intensive titles are now consuming over 8 GB VRAM, particularly at 1440p, gamers are considering the 16 GB edition for better future-proofing. Since AIBs already have plenty of RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB cards in their inventory, NVIDIA is instructing them to limit the supply to the retailers while encouraging the sale of the 16 GB editions more.

It's obvious since even the RX 9060 XT 8 GB edition, which is on par with the RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB, isn't selling well despite being available for a sub-$300 price tag on many retailers. Gamers have already moved to higher VRAM capacity GPUs, and for several years, NVIDIA and AMD have still stuck on releasing 60-class 8 GB cards. That said, with now controlled supply of RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB cards, the prices won't likely go below the MSRP, but this will only encourage gamers to spend another $70 to invest in a better GPU.
