NVIDIA Project G-Assist brings faster performance, while NVIDIA App adds smooth motion on RTX 40, more features, & expanded support for RTX GPUs.

NVIDIA's Project G-Assist Is Now More Responsive Thanks To Lower VRAM Usage, NVIDIA App Adds Smooth Motion Support On RTX 40 Series, More Features & Expanded Support For RTX GPUs

NVIDIA's App and Project G-Assist are receiving major updates. Starting with Project G-Assist, the new update makes the AI utility lighter and more responsive by reducing the memory usage by 40%. There is also improved support for plugins, which can now be auto-selected for your specific tasks. G-Assist is also getting support on NVIDIA's RTX Notebooks with new laptop commands to fine-tune Max-Q capabilities, Battery Boost, and Battery Ops.

Additionally, the NVIDIA Project G-Assist tool is now available across all RTX AI PCs with 6 GB or higher VRAM. Previously, the tool was only supported by 12 GB VRAM+ GPUs, but with the new update, it is available to a larger user base. The tool will also allow users to access a huge list of plugins from Mod.io that can be installed directly from G-Assist.

The NVIDIA App is also getting some major upgrades at Gamescom, which are available starting today. These include new DLSS overdrive updates, which will now enable users to select the "Global" toggle and overlay status for DLSS overrides. This is a cool feature as it will allow DLSS enablement in a countless list of games that don't officially support DLSS.

Furthermore, NVIDIA is officially adding Smooth Motion support for RTX 40 GPUs in the NVIDIA App. Smooth Motion was already available through a BETA GeForce driver, and now, it can be enabled within the App. Since Smooth Motion is a software/driver-level frame-generation enabler, it has advantages as not every game supports DLSS but it also has its drawbacks versus a proper DLSS integration with visual fidelity being one of them.

Finally, NVIDIA App is adding several new control panel features that were part of the "Legacy" control panel app. These include additional 3D Settings, NVIDIA Surround, and more. Additional settings are also being added for classic games, such as Anisotropic Filtering, Texture Filtering, Anti-Aliasing, and a bunch more (10 in total).

BETA users will be able to access the new NVIDIA App starting 19th of August, and non-BETA users will be able to download it a week later.
