Cybenetics Surprises MSI By Giving "Platinum" Efficiency Rating On GLS "80 PLUS Gold" PSUs

MSI recently launched its brand new MAG GLS series PSU family, which is aimed at mainstream builders while supporting the latest features such as ATX 3.1, PCIe 5.1, and 12V-2x6 support. These PSUs are the follow-up to the previous MAG GL family, which was introduced back in 2024, and come in four wattage flavors: 1000W, 850W, 750W, and 650W. While the new "GLS" series improves upon the "GL" series in all possible ways, the main thing is the "S", which possibly stands for "Silent" as the new design operates at much lower noise levels.

However, Cybenetics has now revised its efficiency ratings for the entire lineup, & now rates them with a "Platinum" certification. This is a big step up from the "Gold" certification. As per Cybenetics, a PSU has to fulfill the following checks to achieve a "Platinum" power rating:

For the "Gold" rating, the following is to be achieved:

The highest tier at Cybentics is the "Diamond" rating, which has 0 PSUs listed under it. Even in terms of prices, given the latest ATX 3.1/PCIe 5.1 standards, the MSI MAG GL PSU lineup is priced very nicely. The top 1000W part is currently listed for $189.99 US, the 850W PSU is listed for $149.99 US, the 750W PSU is listed at $129.99 US, while the 650W PSU is listed for $89.99 US. Each PSU features a fully modular design and, with "Platinum" certifications, these PSUs guarantee stable and good power delivery while being backed by a 10-year warranty.
