A Mini ITX motherboard with the GPU slot at the back takes PC building to the next level, but PC case compatibility will be a major issue.

We have Project Zero from MSI, BTF from ASUS, and Stealth from GIGABYTE, aiming for a connector-less PC build, but MAXSUN took a different approach to create the MS-Terminator B760 BKB motherboard, which focuses on keeping the GPU hidden from sight. It sounds weird since the GPU is probably the most attractive component in a PC case, but for some, it might be a cleaner option, particularly in those PC cases that have less clearance on the front.

Unlike how a GPU is usually installed on a PCIe x16 slot on a motherboard, the Terminator B760 BKB D5 has its PCIe 5.0 x16 slot at the back, allowing the GPU to be installed vertically, but facing sideways. This way, the GPU doesn't take up too much space horizontally, and PC cases with a smaller width will be able to accommodate the GPU easily. Think of low-profile cases, which don't have adequate clearance for accommodating standard GPUs. They could benefit from this design, but unfortunately, most cases won't support such an installation due to incompatibility with the motherboard backplate.

The PCIe x16 slot on the back of the MS-Terminator B760 BKB D5 is located at the top, and that means in PC cases like MasterBox iF15, the GPU will have enough clearance to be installed at the back, while the motherboard area will remain cleaner. This is why MAXSUN says it will offer a "Smaller", "Slimmer", and "Smarter" look. Apparently, this is MAXSUN's alternative to installing the GPU other than the front side without any need for PCIe riser cables

Apart from putting the PCIe x16 slot at the back, the rest of the motherboard design is pretty much traditional. There is an additional PCIe x4 slot at the front, and all the connectors and ports are also available on the front side. The motherboard features the B7660 chipset and supports Intel's 12th, 13th, and 14th-gen processors. So, it's a budget offering for those who still own or are planning to buy a processor from these generations. For storage, there will be 2x M.2 slots and 4x SATA ports, and at the I/O, there are plenty of USB ports (mostly USB 2.0) and built-in WiFi 6E for wireless internet connectivity.

MAXSUN didn't reveal any information on pricing and availability, but it has listed the Quote option on the website, allowing interested buyers to request pricing details directly.
