Capcom’s Resident Evil Village is officially available for the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, as well as the M1 and M2 versions of Apple’s iPad lineup. Earlier, it was shown that the A17 Pro running in the iPhone 15 Pro Max can run the game exceptionally well, but obviously not at maximum image quality. However, the M2 iPad Pro, with its higher RAM count and powerful chipset, can certainly tackle those taxing visual gains, with evidence showing that the premium tablet can deliver a smooth gaming experience with all the graphical settings maxed out.
Resident Evil Village can use up a whopping 11GB of VRAM with the settings maxed out on the M2 iPad Pro
A 2-minute video and a screenshot of Resident Evil Village’s visual settings on the M2 iPad Pro were shared by SJV on X, showing that the powerful slate can easily handle the AAA title. It is also worth mentioning that Capcom’s RE Engine is one of the most optimized game engines currently, with even low-end GPUs able to run titles like this one and Resident Evil 4 at a mix of medium and high settings.
Unfortunately, one drawback to these games is that they are VRAM guzzlers, and unless you have a GPU that has a minimum of 8GB of video memory available, you will be unable to crank up those visual settings to their highest possible value. Thankfully, the M2 iPad Pro that was tested with the game features 16GB unified RAM, meaning all 16GB is available to be utilized as graphics memory.

With the settings maxed out and playing at a resolution of 2732 x 2048, Resident Evil Village consumes close to 12GB VRAM. Regardless, even at that resolution and the settings maxed out, SJV notes that the game runs smoothly, though there is no performance counter shown on the M2 iPad Pro that will display the framerate. Regardless, it is still impressive that a game developed for the PC and next-generation consoles is able to perform this well on a device that can easily be carried around in your hand.
It will be interesting to see how Resident Evil 4, which is already listed on the Apple App Store, performs on this version of the M2 iPad Pro. Given that the remake was also developed on the same RE Engine as Resident Evil Village, we expect similar performance on this tablet.
