When Gigabyte introduced its X3D refreshed motherboards for the AMD AM5 socket, the company teased its upcoming flagship. Now, Gigabyte has finally lifted the curtains off of its flagship product, the X870E AORUS Xtreme X3D AI TOP. This is as extreme an AM5 motherboard as can be, and rivals the MSI MEG X870E GODLIKE X Edition, the only other E-ATX offering that can rival this. But Gigabyte looks to have an edge with some splendid features that we will list one by one.

Let's start with the VRM design. The X870E AORUS X3D AI TOP features a 110A+60A 24+2+2 phase VRM design versus the GODLIKE's 110A+60A 24+2+1 phase VRM design. Both motherboards offer DDR5-9000 support with up to 256 GB capacities.

While MSI leverages its Frozr cooling solution, Gigabyte utilizes the Thermal Matrix shield, which allows for direct cooler contact with the Ryzen CPU IHS and the VRM Thermal Armor Advanced solution packs dual 10mm Direct-Touch heatpipes within the finned heat-sinks and further strengthens cooling capabilities with 12 W/mk thermal pads. AORUS also leverages its new DDR Wind Blade Xtreme cooling, which offers an active-fan solution for the DDR5 DIMMs, enabling up to 9 °C lower temperatures. While several M.2 Thermal Guard heatsinks, including the primary one with a heatpipe and active fan solution, enable up to 22 °C temperature reduction.

Moving over to expansion capabilities, the motherboard has three PCIe x16 slots, two of which are Gen5 (x16 / x8) and one is running at PCIe 4.0 x4 speeds. There are five M.2 slots, of which two are Gen5x4, and the rest are Gen4 (x4/x2). There are also two SATA III ports. In terms of USB, the motherboard has 22 ports in total, which include:

The motherboard features several DIY-friendly features such as M.2 EZ-Latch Click, EZ-Latch Plus, WIFI EZ-Plug, EZ Debug Zone, PCIe EZ-Latch Plus Duo, and M.2 EZ-Match. Besides that, there's the large 5" LCD, which is an inch larger than the one on the MSI MEG X870E GODLIKE X Edition. This takes the visual appearance of the Xtreme motherboard to the next level. Now, as for availability and pricing, we should expect the X870E AORUS Xtreme X3D AI TOP to be priced well over the $1000 US mark. It being an ultra-enthusiast product means that it will be produced in limited quantities, but with X3D Turbo Mode 2.0, users can expect a fantastic overclocking and tuning experience, harnessing each and every bit out of their Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs for faster performance.

We have tested the new X3D Turbo Mode 2.0, and found out that it provides a nice boost on Ryzen X3D CPUs, you can read our review of the X870E AORUS Master X3D ICE here.
