Galaxy S25 gets tested with One UI 8 and posts up to a 32 percent performance improvement

Samsung has continued work on Android 16, with its custom One UI 8 running on top of the operating system update, with the first evidence of the company’s efforts coming in the form of the base Galaxy S25 that was recently spotted in a benchmark leak. We should expect the remaining two models to show up as well in the coming weeks, but what is surprising about this revelation is that the flagship ends up posting up to a 32 percent performance improvement over the same Galaxy S25 that is running One UI 7. Whether Samsung has employed some magic or if it is some good-old-fashioned hard work to provide an optimized update, we cannot confirm.

The biggest improvement for the Galaxy S25 tested running One UI 8 comes in the single-core department

The device in question features the model number SM-S931B, and it is equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite paired with 12GB RAM. While it is unsurprising to spot the Galaxy S25 on Geekbench 6’s database when tested running One UI 8, the remarkable thing about this update is the difference in both single-core and multi-core results. Out of curiosity, we compared the latest Galaxy S25 results when running One UI 7 on top of Android 15, with the largest disparity in scores coming from the single-threaded results.

The Galaxy S25 running One UI 8 obtains a score of 3,057 and 9,909 in the single-core and multi-core categories, respectively, while the handset powered by One UI 7 secures 2,314 and 9,158 points. These differences suggest that Samsung’s One UI 8 will be less resource-intensive when running background applications, allowing the Galaxy S25 to have more CPU and GPU juice remaining to post a higher score in benchmarks, but this change also represents that the upcoming update will deliver a more polished user experience.

We will obviously wait for more scores to show up and see if the same differences arise, but if you want to experience One UI 8 in the future on the Galaxy S25, we suggest grabbing a unit from Amazon, which is currently $100 off. Oftentimes, the specifications on paper do not translate all that well in real-world use cases, and a future system update can make a world of a difference.
