The first Intel W890 motherboard for its upcoming Granite Rapids Workstation "Xeon" CPU lineup has been pictured.

Just a few days after the W890 platform details leaked out, we now have our first look at a proper and final W890 motherboard that is designed to support Intel's Granite Rapids Workstation "Xeon" CPUs.

The motherboard is the ISB-W890 from ADLINK, which is made for AXE servers and supports 6th Gen Intel Xeon Granite Rapids workstation CPUs. Some of the main highlights of this motherboard include:

The ISB-W890 motherboard features the LGA 4710-2 socket, which is also the one used to power Xeon 6700P and Xeon 6700E processors, too, on servers, but the W890 chipset is specifically designed to support Xeon workstation chips with up to 86 cores. We have been seeing a lot of these chips leak out at various databases, such as Sandra & Geekbench, so a CES 2026 launch is very likely.

As for the motherboard itself, it features the CEB form factor, measuring 305x267mm, so a very large board, which is to be expected from a workstation offering. The motherboard, interestingly, features OC support on select "X" series Xeon 600 "Granite Rapids-WS" chips.

For memory, the motherboard has a total of 8 slots which support up to 128 GB capacities with speeds of up to 6400 MT/s (1DPC), & 5200 MT/s (2DPC). So, 1 TB of capacity, but there will be some with even higher capacity support.

Expansion is divided into two tiers: the Expert Stream chips will offer up to 128 PCIe lanes, while the Mainstream Stream chips will offer up to 80 PCIe lanes. The lane division is as follows:

Expert stream (128L):

Mainstream (80L):

For storage, the ADLINK ISB-W890 motherboard offers 4x MCIO x8 connectors, two M.2 M-Key NVMe slots, two SlimSAS slots, and 8 SATA III slots. IO includes one 1GbE, one 2.5GbE LAN port, 10 USB 3.0 ports, 5 USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A ports, 1 USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C port, 4 USB 3.2 Gen1 ports, and two USB2 ports.

There are also several other internal connectors and headers, which are listed below:

Also, the Intel W890 platform block diagram that leaked out a few days ago was relevant to this board. So that's it, our first look at an Intel W890 motherboard for the Xeon Granite Rapids Workstation CPUs. Expect more information in the coming weeks as we get closer to launch.
