FCC reveals details about the new Apple Vision Pro

A couple of months into the future will ensure that the first-generation Apple Vision Pro crosses its second birthday, with the majority of you likely contemplating when a successor would arrive. Thankfully, the FCC had a little surprise prepared for us and our readers, as we get to know a little more about the head-mounted wearable, such as the lack of Wi-Fi 7 support.

Upgraded Apple Vision Pro will continue to ship with Wi-Fi 6 support, nothing else specified in the latest discovery

Various documents shared by the FCC and spotted by MacRumors talk about a ‘Head Mounted Device’ sporting the model number A3416. Given that the M5 iPad Pro unboxing video recently surfaced, we are inclined to believe that Apple will treat its upcoming flagship AR headset to the same chipset, but the latest documents do not confirm this hardware upgrade.

What it does confirm is the series of tests conducted, ranging from transmission to SAR and WLAN. Through a little digging around, we found that the upcoming Apple Vision Pro will stick with Wi-Fi 6, which is disappointing considering several of the company’s devices have already transitioned to Wi-Fi 7.

The FCC also provided details on Apple’s unreleased M5 MacBook Pro lineup, hinting that Apple could have several products just waiting to be announced. However, what the independent agency did not reveal was that the company is working on a low-cost head-mounted wearable referred to as the Apple Vision Air.

Unfortunately, as you would have guessed from the lack of documents surrounding the aforementioned product, we should expect a release in 2027 instead of this year. As for the Apple Vision Pro successor, the pricing details have yet to be unveiled, but just like the current model, we do not see a stamped figure of less than $3,499 for the base storage model.
