The Pixel 8a exists, and no matter how hard Google tries, there is no putting a lid on it now. The phone has leaked several times, and while we still have not heard an official confirmation from Google, the phone is coming sooner or later. After the phone's renders showed up several times, we now have access to the official wallpapers of the phone, showing the approach Google is taking.
The Pixel 8a wallpapers show how Google has a distinct style that it wants to continue
The Pixel 8a wallpapers look a lot like the ones that we have seen on the predecessors, with some changes to how they look. Google has also made sure that there are wallpapers for both light and dark modes, so you don't have to worry about having something that is slightly different in terms of the color scheme. The Pixel 8a wallpapers are called Titanite, Barite, and Hematite. The source suggests there is a possibility that we might have Porcelain wallpapers in both light and dark gradients as well, but those are not included. Last but not least, Antti Kalevi's motif illustration could also be a part of the wallpaper collection when the phone launches, which is not surprising since Google has a habit of adding new wallpapers.
Sadly, we don't know much about the Pixel 8a's release date aside from the fact that the phone will be available sometime next year, will have an underclocked version of the Tensor G3, and a more rounded design as compared to its elder siblings. Considering how you are getting Tensor G3 under the hood, you can also expect some generative AI features coming to the phone, but we don't know the extent of these features and will keep you posted once we do get more information.
