Corsair's monstrous 3000W power supply comes with multiple 8 and 16-pin connectors for GPUs, and is therefore more suitable for workstation builds consisting of several GPUs.
CORSAIR Launches WS3000 80 Plus Platinum Grade Power Supply With 4x 12V-2x6 Connectors at $599
Popular hardware and peripheral manufacturer, Corsair, has just introduced its first 3000W power supply for premium rigs. Unlike traditional power supplies, the new Corsair WS3000 is aimed at high-end workstation builds that aim to leverage the horsepower of several GPUs for intensive workloads such as AI/ML training.
The WS3000 offers 3000 watts of capacity that has enough juice to power four high-end GPUs such as GeForce RTX 5090. WS3000 PSU brings four native 12V-2x6 power connectors, and as you can assume, it's ATX 3.1 compliant. There are an additional 4x 8-pin traditional PCIe connectors for GPUs, which can be split into 8x 8-pin PCIe connectors through four PCIe cables provided in the box.
Despite being monstrous in capacity, it is somewhat compact than you would expect, measuring 175mm in length, 150mm in width, and 86mm in height. The power supply can supply a max load of up to 250A through a single +12V rail. This makes load distribution simple and is ideal for high-power or high-draw workloads. Nonetheless, this also increases the risk of heat buildup, but Corsair has addressed this with industrial-grade components and cooling.
Hopefully, the WS3000 has high-grade components and also lists that the PSU doesn't have a Zero RPM mode, as active cooling can be necessary for systems with multiple high-end GPUs. The PSU has a single 140mm double ball bearing fan, and at higher loads, even though this will be somewhat noisier, it will at least keep overheating at bay. Corsair, essentially, isn't focusing on silent performance here, but more on reliability.
It should be noted that the WS3000 isn't designed for 110/120V power and will only operate with a 220-240V AC supply. To make it work on 110/120V, users will need a step-up converter or dual-voltage support. The Corsair WS300 is priced at $599 and will ship with 10-year warranty.
