ASUS Debuts PRO WS Platinum PSU Series, Offering ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 Compatibility

Popular hardware manufacturer, ASUS, has introduced its latest premium-tier power supply series, known as Pro WS Platinum, which promises to offer "peak performance' for demanding professional workloads. ASUS says its Pro WS Platinum series PSUs can power multiple high-end GPUs such as RTX 5080 and RTX 5090, and offer three models with different wattage capacities.

The Pro WS Platinum will be available in 1600W, 2200W, and 3000W capacities, and offers the latest ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 compatibility to ensure full support for the latest-gen graphics cards such as GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX PRO 6000. These power supply units feature gold-plated copper pins inside their high-quality quality etched cables. The EPS and 12V-2x6 connectors are color-coded to ensure a perfect connection with the motherboard and GPUs, respectively.

Since these are fully modular, users can have a neatly done system by connecting only the required cables. Its 3000W PSU can reportedly power up to four GeForce RTX 5090 or RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell GPUs, and its 2200W PSU can power up to four GeForce RTX 5080. This makes it easier to build a powerful workstation setup for AI workloads and to ensure the PSUs can long for longer durations reliably without overheating, the PSUs utilize extruded aluminum heatsinks and highly ventilated chassis for continuous heat dissipation.

ASUS claims that its gold-plated high-performance copper pins in the 12V-2x6 connectors can reduce the connector temperature up to 10°C, which offers reliable operation. That said, these PSUs are rated at 80 Plus Platinum and offer nearly 94% efficiency on typical loads and over 90% efficiency at 100% usage as well. Such features make these PSUs excellent for high-end builds and workstations, considering that ASUS is also providing a 10-year warranty.

Prices for the PSU models start at 479 Euros (US$552) for the 1600W model, 619 Euros (US$713) for the 2200W, and 899 Euros (US$1036) for the flagship 3000W model. The power supplies are now available for purchase in some EU regions like Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, but ASUS hasn't announced the availability in other parts of the world at the moment.
