AMD systems are now pushing the limits, but only if you have a motherboard like the ASUS B850M AYW Gaming OC.
G.Skill DDR5 Memory Pushed to 10,600 MT/s in 2x 24 GB Configuration On B850M AYM Gaming OC
AMD's Zen 4 and Zen 5 aren't apparently weak when it comes to supporting high memory frequency, but you need to have the right motherboard, the right memory kit, and also the right CPU to touch 10,000 MT/s. It's incredibly difficult to achieve 10,000 MT/s on a single stick on the AM5 platform, let alone with a 2x 24 GB configuration as announced by G.Skill today. The company produces fast DDR5 memories and proudly boasted about the results in an X post, showing off the results, which show how their internal testing was successful in achieving a high memory speed.
The setup included the popular ASUS B850M AYW Gaming OC WiFi motherboard, which recently helped a 48 GB (2x 24 GB) DDR5 memory kit achieve 10,400 MT/s using Ryzen 5 8500G at CL50. The latest results are even better, particularly because we have similar latencies, but the memory speed is pushed to 10,600 MT/s at a 1:2 ratio. If you are aware of the B850M AYW Gaming OC's features, it uses a 1 DPC memory configuration to allow higher memory speeds with lower latency with better stability, and gives tough competition to high-end 800-series motherboards.
This is the same motherboard that ASUS's Tony used to secure 12 world records. Similar to the previous test, this test also shows the motherboard's prowess in overclocking, which makes it possible to achieve 10,000+ MT/s without having to spend hundreds of dollars on a high-end mobo and CPU. ASUS officially lists 9600 MT/s as the max DDR5 speed when paired with Ryzen 8000 CPUs, and 8400 MT/s with Ryzen 9000. Hence, you may not see the RAM kit touching 10,000 MT/s with Ryzen 9000, as even previously, the max we saw was 8800 MT/s using Ryzen 9800X3D.
It's still impressive, though, considering the latency was just CL34. We haven't seen such results on the MSI B850MPOWER yet, which is a direct competitor to the B850M AYW, but we did find it quite impressive in our testing. However, the ASUS board is simply offers the best value, since it costs <$200 while the MSI model costs over $250.
