Apple releases beta 2 of iOS 17.2, watchOS 10.2, macOS Sonoma 14.2, and tvOS 17.2 to developers to test the latest features and changes
As a developer, you can download and install the latest iOS 17.2 and iPadOS 17.2 beta 2 on your iPhone and iPad from the Settings app. Before doing so, ensure your Apple ID is linked to your Developer Account. Head to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates to download the latest beta and follow the on-screen instructions. iOS 17.2 includes the new Journal app, curated suggestions, and Favorites playlist in Apple Music.
Alongside iOS 17.2, Apple has also released beta 2 of watchOS 10.2 for all compatible Apple Watch models. To download watchOS 10.2 on your Apple Watch, head over to your iPhone's dedicated Apple Watch app, navigate to General > Software Update > Beta Updates, and follow the instructions on the screen to download the latest watchOS 10.2 beta. Again, ensure your Apple ID is linked to your Developer Account.
Apple has also released macOS Sonoma 14.2 to developers alongside iOS 17.2, which can be downloaded on compatible Macs by opting on to the beta through the Software Update mechanism in the System Settings app. Toggle on the Sonoma Developer Beta under Beta Updates to receive OTA updates. macOS Sonoma 14.2 also houses a few upgrades in Apple Music, but the most prominent changes will be under the hood for better stability.
Lastly, Apple has seeded tvOS 17.2 to developers, which can be downloaded by opting on to the beta via the Settings app on the Apple TV. Make sure that your Apple ID is associated with your developer account. Otherwise, the update will not appear over the air. The most significant change coming with the Apple TV is the new Apple TV app, which includes a sidebar that will accumulate content from Apple and other services.
Apple is solely focusing its efforts on making iOS 17, watchOS 10, macOS 14, and tvOS 17 more stable for users as it is currently taking a break from iOS 18 and additional updates. The current platforms will soon be more stable and bug-free before Apple resumes work on next year's updates. We will let you know when the final build is available for your devices as soon as the updates are released.
