Yet another case of a very high-end GPU becoming totally useless, because the replacement parts aren't available.

User Gets his PCIe Connector Board Broken into Two Due to RTX PRO 6000's Weight; Unfortunately, No Replacement Part is Available

Remember the case of a user who got his connector on the RTX 5090 Founders Edition GPU damaged? While that user got lucky as NVIDIA promised him to replace his GPU, we don't know if this one will receive as well, particularly when the GPU is almost 4-5X more expensive. We are talking about the Blackwell RTX PRO 6000 flagship workstation graphics card that costs a whopping $10,000.

The user sent his damaged RTX Pro 6000 GPU to NorthbridgeFix, the same YouTuber who called the NVIDIA RTX 5090 Founders Edition design one of the worst designs ever. But that's not just the design you will find on the RTX 5090, but also on the RTX Pro 6000, which uses the same modular design where there is a separate PCIe board that connects the PCIe interface to the actual GPU PCB.

In this case, the user shipped his PC without uninstalling the GPU from the chassis, and due to the GPU's weight, its PCIe board/connector got snapped in half. Since this cannot be fixed, it requires a replacement, but if you remember from the previous case, NVIDIA doesn't offer such parts for replacement. That means, if you break this board or any of its components, your GPU is dead.

So, the $10K RTX Pro 6000 just met a horrible fate, even when there is technically no damage to the actual GPU. The connector on the PCB was also totally fine, and it's actually totally fixable, provided there is a replacement available. The YouTuber says what's the point of making a GPU modular when NVIDIA can't even provide replacement parts. Hopefully, NVIDIA looks into this and starts selling these PCIe connector boards, but in case it doesn't, users will have to bear such damages.

For those who want to avoid such instances happening, they should simply go for the custom AIB editions, but for the Blackwell RTX PRO 6000, that's not possible since there isn't any custom edition available.
