As our world becomes even more connected, fads are a common feature these days. One moment you'll see a company, actor, song being proclaimed as the next big thing. The next, it's erased from memory. Chinese smartphone starlet Xiaomi comes pretty close to the title. It's Mi4 caught a lot of attention, with the Chinese manufacturer delivering a good mix of design, specifications and price. However, the company failed to follow up with the device's successor in a timely manner. Courtesy of today's fast paced environment, pretty soon a lot of folks stopped caring what Xiaomi was up to. Now, the company looks to make a comeback, with the Xiaomi Mi6.
The Xiaomi Mi6 Will Launch On April 16 And Feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835
The Xiaomi Mi 6 is a regular feature of the rumor mill. But as most leaks these days focus on the Samsung Galaxy S8, the device doesn't stay for long in public perception. As any regular reader knows, the more hype a company manages to drum up around a device, the more its chances of success increase. It's one of the primary reasons why the iPhone does so well, even though Apple doesn't play the same game Android plays.
Xiaomi, on the other hand, tries to combine the best of both world. Dubbed as 'China's Apple' the company's Mi4 offered a nice device for users not wanting to get caught up in the flagship smartphone race. the Mi5 on the other hand went relatively unnoticed. Now, the company's been very busy the past couple of months. It entered the smartphone processor market as well, with the Xiaomi Surge S1. The processor is a modest piece of silicon, manufactured on 28nm HPC+. It features two sets of four Cortex A53 cores, clocked at 2.2GHz and 1.4GHz.
Now, Chinese sources claim that the Xiaomi Mi6 will launch next month. Sources expect the device to see light of day on April 16th. Xiaomi's looking to make a full blow return to the flagship smartphone market with the device. It's expected to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, making the device the first Chinese smartphone with the advanced 10nm processor. The source also clarifies on rumors of the processor being under-clocked. They're false, so a lot of you can take sighs of relief.
Other specifications for the Mi6 include a 5.2 inch, 2.5D display, a 19MP rear camera and 6GB RAM. The device's price tag is rumored at $365 for the high end variant. That's very low for a Snapdragon 835 phone. Though we also believe that Xiaomi's won't mess with all the 'cool' features these days such as an 'infinite display', virtual fingerprint sensor and others. Simple yet powerful, seems to be the motto for the Xiaomi Mi 6. Thoughts? Let us know what you think in the comments section below and stay tuned. We'll keep you updated on the latest.
