Xiaomi Finally Preparing the Mi 8 Explorer Edition for an Imminent Launch – Competes With the Highest Spec’d OnePlus 6 Variant

Xiaomi launched the Mi 8 Explorer Edition in May this year thanks to its specifications, it became known as the most powerful and might we add, the most expensive variant of the three Mi 8 models. Initially, the phone was only available with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage which was non-expandable, of course, but it definitely looks like the Chinese powerhouse is preparing some newer models that will be launched in the near future.

TENAA Listing Shows the Mi 8 Explorer Edition Will Be Made in the 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB RAM Versions

A recent listing from TENAA indicates that multiple variants of the Mi 8 Explorer Edition are in the pipeline with different storage and RAM configurations. It is very clear from the model number and the pictures that it is the Mi 8 Explorer Edition, with the listing mentioning 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB of RAM paired with 64GB 128GB and 256GB of onboard storage.

Xiaomi is Now The Latest Culprit in Throttling Apps

The listing doesn’t clarify how the memory configurations will be matched by Xiaomi. For now, the combination of 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory is confirmed. This means the 4GB RAM will probably be paired with the 64GB storage and 6GB RAM with the aforementioned memory too. However, in the past, Xiaomi has released one variant of a phone with more storage and another with more RAM so other combinations are also possible. We will only get to know for sure once the TENAA listing clarifies it ahead of the market release.

The Mi 8 Explorer Edition has an impressive design and it is powered by a Snapdragon 845. It also has an on-screen fingerprint reader and became the first Android flagship to feature 3D facial recognition. It also touts a dual-band GPS technology to enable accurate location tracking. Xiaomi has disclosed the price for the 8GB/128GB version of the Mi 8 Explorer Edition as CNY 3,799, which is $570, making it the cheapest flagship to be outfitted with a Snapdragon 845 and 8GB of RAM.

This variant will most likely be sold overseas, but due to a list of costs, you will be asked to pay a higher price than the one mentioned above.
