Xiaomi Blackshark Will Be Armed With a Snapdragon 845, Suggests Latest Teaser – Here’s How It Could Compete as a Gaming Smartphone
The Mi MIX 2S is not going to be the only flagship from Xiaomi to sport a Snapdragon 845. The company is also said to be working on its first gaming smartphone under a new brand name called Blackshark.
Recently, a smartphone by the name of Blackshark has shown up on Geekbench and AnTuTu and it appears to be belonging to Xiaomi, as per the hardware specifications. The latest teaser from Blackshark and Qualcomm have confirmed that the new phone will be fueled by the Snapdragon 845.
Xiaomi Blackshark Gaming Smartphone Could Feature a Different Display and Improved Thermal Solution When Compared to Other Manufacturers
Surprisingly, the teaser poster does not mention the name Xiaomi, even though the company partly owns Blackshark. Perhaps the Chinese tech firm is looking to launch an entirely new gaming-centric sub-brand. Xiaomi also didn’t use its name while teasing the Mi series flagships so, it is possible that the company will use a similar strategy to market this particular handset.
According to earlier leaks, Blackshark will sport 8GB of RAM and it will be running the latest version of Android Oreo. It will also have a 2,160 x 1,080 FHD+ 18:9 panel but the screen could be IPS LCD based and not OLED.
This is because the device might end up featuring a 120Hz display to give the Razer Phone a run for its money. Since Blackshark is a gaming smartphone, it should also have an impressive cooling solution so that the processor and GPU do not thermally throttle like they do on other devices.
Now that the phone has been confirmed through a teaser, we can’t wait to get to know more about it. As for when it is going to be unveiled, we are hoping for an April or May announcement that will take place this year. Perhaps Xiaomi could end up stamping a competitive price tag on it so it gives the Razer Phone successor a tough competition in the price/performance department.
