Xiaomi Phone With A 4.3-Inch Screen Could Also Get A Snapdragon 820 SoC
Now that Xiaomi has launched its Mi Max (6.44-inch screen size), and Mi5 (5.15-inch screen size), the company probably thinks that it is high time that it announced a smartphone that features powerful internals but a smaller screen size to cater to those who find it very discomforting to hold larger devices. According to the latest leak, we could be getting another handset with a Snapdragon 820 chipset.
Xiaomi Mi5 Could Come In A 4.3-Inch Variant With A Snapdragon 820 Chipset And A Very, Very Affordable Price Tag
A leaked image has sprouted up on Weibo and it appears to be a smaller variant of Xiaomi Mi5. The 4.3-inch device is said to feature a resolution of 1280 x 720 and details of the leak suggest that 3GB RAM is going to be a part of the configuration as well. However, while a smaller smartphone will be comforting to use in a hand for consumers who have particularly smaller palms, there are a few sacrifices that Xiaomi will be forced to make, particularly where the battery life comes to play. Smaller screen devices already have a natural disadvantage of sporting smaller battery capacities.
Xiaomi can turn this disadvantage into a blessing by forcibly increasing the bulk of the device and if it does not have an issue doing that, then we have a clear winner on our hands being presented to folks who adore Android powered devices. That’s not all, the leak also mentioned that the smartphone would feature an affordable price tag of 1799 Yuan which roughly converts to $272 USD. If this leak turns out to be true, then Xiaomi will possibly conquer the high-end market of smaller screen devices.
The base model of Mi5 came with a downclocked processor, and with the 4.3-inch phone, the processor’s lowered frequencies will actually have an advantage when it comes to conserving battery life. Remember, we should treat this information with a grain of salt and wait for more leaks to come in before we can be confident that Xiaomi is dead serious about releasing another smartphone. The company has also released a plethora of models so it’s high time that it sat back and see how the market reacts.
