The Xbox One X, Microsoft’s enhanced Xbox One console, will outsell Sony’s PS4 Pro according to gaming and tech analyst Michael Pachter.
The Wedbush Securities analyst believes that Microsoft’s mid-cycle console refreshment will sell around 2 million units. Taking to Twitter he added that the console will outsell the PlayStation 4 Pro. "The Pro, yes, the PS4, no", Pachter said on Twitter.
Exact sales figures for the PS4 Pro haven’t been released by Sony, but the company did state that nearly 20% of PS4 sales are Pro’s. "It is way ahead of our expectations," Sony’s head of global sales and marketing, Jim Ryan, said back in June of this year. "As with PSVR, and I suppose in forecasting these things we haven't done a very good job, the product is in desperately short supply. So that's one-in-five under severe constraint."
Microsoft’s Xbox One X console won’t go on sale before November 7th, but the company has stated that the One X pre-orders have exceeded all previous Xbox console pre-orders to date. Pachter later called Microsoft out for “extrapolating” pre-order numbers.
“On that topic, Xbox One X is ranked on Amazon in the pre-orders a year to date, last I looked number 66”, he said in his latest episode of Pachter Factor. “I believe the NES Classic was at number 23. It sold 2.3 million units lifetime, and you know that the bulk of those units were sold last year, so this year maybe a million, so if Xbox One X is ranked 48th bellow that, it`s not even close to a million, and of course the Amazon allocation is probably five or ten thousand units, so don`t fall for the bullshit that comes out of Windows Central that tells you that this is the fastest pre-ordered console and Xbox history. They only have a couple. The original Xbox didn`t have big pre-orders. The Xbox 360, maybe, but honesty, who was pre-ordering consoles back then, so of course this is the most pre-ordered, because they are much more organized, and they`re marketing to an install base of 30-35 million Xbox Live Gold members, so of course they`re heavily pre-ordered.”
