Western Digital Drastically Increases Its WD Gold Hard Drive Lineup’s Capacity
Western Digital had announced that it would be increasing the total storage capacity of its WD Gold lineup. These drives are targeted to datacenters around the world, and with the increase in capacity, the company will provide more storage expansion flexibility to its clients worldwide.
Western Digital Increase Its WD Gold Datacenter Hard Drives’ Capacity From 8TB To 10TB
The WD Gold 10TB datacenter hard drives are incorporated with HelioSeal helium-technology designed to withstand the hefty requirements for datacenters. This will range from high capacity and power efficiency. With datacenters looking to increase the storage count while reducing space and energy consumption, this latest storage upgrade was a gift from heaven.
According to Western Digital, WD Gold datacenter hard drives are designed for a broad range of applications, which include from small-to-medium-scale enterprise servers and storage, along with rack-mount datacenter servers and storage enclosures. Additionally, WD Gold 10TB datacenter hard drives feature an optimized design over the existing WD Gold 8TB drives that helps reduce the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) of servers and storage systems through an 8 percent operating power reduction while delivering 25 percent more capacity.
Brendan Collins, Vice President of product marketing, Western Digital has stated the following concerning the company’s goal in providing global storage solutions:
“It is Western Digital’s ongoing goal to provide superior reliability and compelling value to our enterprise customers.” WD Gold drives are a key component of the overall WD portfolio, providing power efficient, capacity-optimized storage for a wide range of high workload applications. The new 10TB capacity enables customers to efficiently deploy higher density storage solutions.”
Here are the features of the WD Gold 10TB datacenter hard drives you should know about:
