Did The Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 And Snapdragon 840 Just Surface On GeekBench? Highly Unlikely But Might Be The Case
We’ve got a couple of strange leaks for you today. Last year, Qualcomm surprised a lot of folks by launching two Snapdragon processors instead of one. The first half of 2016 saw the Snapdragon 820 become official, while the second bore witness to the Snapdragon 821. Ever since the US chip giant faced throttling issues with the Snapdragon 810, its struggled to recover. The company’s Kryo cores haven’t taken off completely, as the Snapdragon lineup is continuously bested by Samsung’s Exynos processors in benchmarks. Speaking of Samsung, we’ve got two rather interesting benchmarks for you today. Take a look below to find out more.
Samsung G9600 And G9650 Spotted On GeekBench; Seemingly Sport The Snapdragon 840 And 845
Talking leaks, it doesn’t get more interesting than this. We’ve got two new processors for you today, one of which isn’t expected until next year. This year, both Samsung and Qualcomm have introduced 10nm processors in the form of the Exynos 8895 and Snapdragon 835. Next year, we’re expecting further refinement of the node in the form of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845. In fact, sources also claim that Samsung has allegedly commenced developmental work on the processor, expected to power the Galaxy S9.
However today, we’ve come across some very interesting benchmark listings. Samsung’s rumored to launch a Galaxy S8 mini soon, in order to capture mid year demand. The Korean tech giant always faces a declining interest in its devices as we reach the year’s half, a reason why it chooses to launch the Galaxy Note 8 as well. In the past, the Galaxy S lineup has seen similar mid-year upgrades as well, but this year, Samsung just might have a big surprise for all of us.
GeekBench now shows two smartphone listings, which are believed to be variants for the Samsung Galaxy S8+ Mini. Head over to the bottom of the images above and you’ll see their motherboards listed as the sdm840 and sdm845. If this means what we think it does, then looks like Samsung and Qualcomm have got something really beg brewing up. These can be taken as the Snapdragon 845 and the Snapdragon 840. A next generation processor launch by Qualcomm in the same fiscal year will shake things up a lot.
That being said, it’s highly, highly unlikely for such an event to take place. Most likely, the listings mean little and should be taken with the proverbial grain of salt, if not the entire mine. The Samsung Galaxy S8 Mini is rumored to feature Most likely, it’s someone with an edited kernel as the processor id here is similar to the Snapdragon 820. Still, interesting food for thought.
