The Samsung Galaxy S9 Will Feature A Variable Aperture Rear Camera! Alleged Retail Box Leak Suggests DSLR-esque Upgrade
The rumor mill back again, after a brief lull. We've only got a couple of weeks left until the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ are official. The Korean tech giant is heading into the year with a strong run, as opposed to 2017. Featuring solid designs, the market received its Note 8 and S8/S8+ solidly. Compare these with the fiascos of the Note 7 and a company official going to jail and you'll get the picture. Today, we've got a major leak for you, which has taken some time to verify. It provides critical details on a critical feature for the pair: their cameras. Take a look below to find out more.
Samsung Galaxy S9's Retail Box Provides Critical Details For Smartphone; Confirms Iris Scanner, Introduces A Variable Aperture Rear Camera Setup
Courtesy of the rumor mill, we've got a lot of information for Samsung's Galaxy S9 and S9+. The Korean tech giant will take it slow this year. After all, it made the big move of completely overhauling the lineup's displays last year. The 18:9 aspect ratio is simply amazing, even if it resulted in the awkward placement of the fingerprint sensor on the S8 lineup. However, Samsung will rectify this mistake on the S9 and S9+.
A big upgrade is due as well. Samsung chose to forgo introducing a dual camera setup on the Galaxy S8 and S8+. Instead, it launched it first on the Galaxy Note 8, whose lineup continues to receive increasing attention. Of course, the feature can also signal Samsung's guilt with the Note 7, a device declared as a public safety hazard. Today, we've got what looks as a retail box for the Galaxy S9.
This leak confirms a lot of what we already know so far. The Galaxy S9 will feature a 5.8" display and also feature IP68 certification. However, there's a big disappointment as well. According to today's leak, the 64GB variant of the smartphone will feature 4GB RAM. However, we've still got hopes that the 128GB variant will improve this. These details aren't the main feature of today's leak. Rather, it's the camera sensor for the S9, which will feature a 'variable aperture' along a 12MP resolution.
This is a big upgrade. Samsung already experimented with the feature on the W2018, launched in December. This will allow the Galaxy S9 to shift between f/1.5 and f2.4. It marks for a first true step towards bringing DSLR level results on a smartphone, although we're far from it. While Apple might have hit home run with Face ID, Samsung will demonstrate how it's all about the details as well. That is, if this rumor materializes. Thoughts?
