The Galaxy S8 will bring in a new era of smartphones. It'll mark an end of the 3.5mm earphone jack, welcome virtual home buttons and say hello to 10nm. It'll also mark the end of flat screen Galaxy S flagship smartphones. As for the launch, general sentiment suggests that Samsung will wait it out this year. The Galaxy S8 won't launch at the sidelines of the MWC, with the Korean tech giant choosing the month of April this year.

To this end, a rumor surfaced a couple of weeks back which claimed that Samsung will launch the Galaxy S8 on April 18th. Now, we're hearing some more news which makes a similar claim. It originates out of Samsung's home country South Korea, so we're inclined to believe in its credibility. An anonymous source pegs the device with a launch date in the third week of April.

“Samsung Electronics has confirmed that the release schedule has been set in mid-April, possibly in the third week.” an anonymous industry source told The Investor. In addition to a safer approach with the Galaxy S8, Samsung s also rumored to have set high sales targets for the device. Industry sources quoted by the publication also believe that this move has been carried out to compensate the company for the losses incurred from the Galaxy Note 7.

If this information turns out to be true, then it's quite a while until the Galaxy S8 is launched. This, in turn gives us more time to search for leaks.
