Samsung Galaxy S8 Rumored With UHD Resolution, Type-C Earphone Connectivity & More

The Google Pixel and Pixel XL will launch in just three days. After their launch, we'll be all done with flagship smartphones for the year 2016. It was expected to be a slow year in terms of hardware, as major manufacturers will make the jump to 10nm in 2017. Still, the year wasn't a complete bore. We saw Qualcomm launch two flagship processors, instead of one. Samsung introduced Iris scanning on the Galaxy Note 7. Yet, the phablet gained popularity for all the wrong reasons. The Note 7 and its exploding batteries have eroded market reputation drastically. Samsung's now rumored to make up for the device's failures with the Galaxy S8. Today, some more information has surfaced for the device. Take a look below to find out more.

Samsung's Galaxy S8 Rumored To Feature UHD Resolution & No Earphone Jack

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were once again the center of controversy this year. Apple removed the 3.5mm earphone jack for the pair in a move that received mixed response from the industry. Cupertino also provided a complementary lightning to 3.5mm adapter with the iPhone. This will aid users who still haven't upgraded to bluetooth audio peripherals. Samsung's now rumored to make a similar choice for the Galaxy S8.

Sources now speculate that the Galaxy S8 will not feature the 3.5mm earphone jack either. Like lightning on the iPhone 7, USB Type-C on the Galaxy S8 will substitute for earphone connectivity. Looks like wireless connectivity really is the future when we talk about flagship smartphones. This won't be the only major upgrade on the Galaxy S8. The device will also feature UHD resolution if today's rumors are accurate.

The reason Samsung will make this shift is because the Korean manufacturer intends to push VR more strongly for the Galaxy S8. How it will balance this resolution with battery life, we're not sure. UHD rumors for the Galaxy S8 have surfaced previously as well. Samsung's going to need a strong flagship launch next year, if the company is to reverse ill fortunes of the Note 7. UHD and Type-C earphone connectivity aren't the only fatures that are rumored for the Galaxy S8.

We've also heard about Iris scanning and dual cameras making it on the flagship. After LG and Apple, it's only logical for Samsung to make the jump as well. The device is also rumored to feature only Edged screens this year, with Samsung finally removing standard screens for the Galaxy lineup. The Exynos 8895 will be manufactured on 10nm according to information so far. These combined, do end up making a strong flagship device. Thoughts?
