An era where notebooks touting mobile chipsets being placed in the hands of users will finally be upon us as Qualcomm has signed up a total of 13 carriers to bolster the sales of Snapdragon-powered notebooks. These will be categorized under the ‘Always Connected PCs’ category and are expected to provide you with a ton of endurance on the battery life.
Always Connected PCs Might Not Deliver the Same Performance as Intel-Powered Notebooks, but They’ll Do Just Fine in Regular Workloads and Provide a Megaton-Level of Battery Life
Given below are the carriers that Qualcomm has signed up for when it will officially started selling notebooks and hybrids powered by the Snapdragon 835 and eventually the Snapdragon 845.
- China Mobile and China Telecom (China HQ)
- Transatel (France HQ)
- Deutsche Telekom (Germany HQ)
- Cubic (Ireland HQ)
- Telefónica (Spain HQ)
- Swisscom (Switzerland HQ)
- T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint, Verizon (U.S. HQ)
- TIM (Italy HQ) EE (U.K. HQ)
HP and ASUS already showcased their offerings in earlier trade shows, and stated that these notebooks would be able to provide between 20-22 hours of battery life while remaining connected to the web. Now we will have to see the sort of plans and packages that carriers introduce for users to remain connected to the internet to carry out their daily tasks.
Unfortunately, there are going to be some limitations that you will experience when using Snapdragon-running machines so we highly recommend that you read up on them first and then decide on your purchase. As for the user that demands the best battery life from a notebook, you will never look at another product after you try these out yourself.
Just remember that you will not be able to experience the same level of performance as you would from notebooks running Intel or AMD processors.
