OS X 10.11.2 El Capitan Beta 5 Now Available (Update: Public Beta Too)

After a pause of over a week, Apple has just seeded OS X 10.11.2 El Capitan beta 5 and is now immediately available to download from the Mac App Store.

Apple has been rolling out beta software on a regular basis since the past few weeks with the exception of the last one, hinting towards the fact that we might finally see a big release on the consumer end. But luckily, Apple has chosen to take the pre-release route once again as the company saw it fit to release OS X 10.11.2 El Capitan beta 5 to registered developers.

If you have one of the previous betas of OS X 10.11.2 El Capitan installed on your Mac then we highly recommend that you update to the latest build without giving it a second thought. Simply connect your Mac to a stable WiFi connection, launch the Mac App Store and grab the update by clicking on the Updates tab. Depending on the age of your Mac and the speed of your Internet connection, the installation process can take between a few minutes going up to an hour. Exercise patience during this time, that's all we can say.

If, for some reason, you've decided against installing this update and do not want to receive future updates for OS X El Capitan, then be sure to check out our following guide: How To Stop Receiving OS X Beta Updates Via Mac App Store.

Given that we're sitting on the fifth beta of OS X 10.11.2 El Capitan, we have high hopes that the final release isn't too far off. And given that OS X 10.11.2 is no more than a mere bug fix and performance enhancing release, it's great to see that Apple is giving it a good amount of time keeping it behind locked doors so that the final product is as refined as possible.

Apart from OS X 10.11.2 El Capitan, iOS 9.2 is also currently serving time as a beta release, and we're certain that it too would see a new pre-release build this week, given that Apple is planning to release the final version either next week or some other time after that.

We urge developers to update their Macs to the latest OS X 10.11.2 El Capitan beta 5 release so they can reap the benefits of this release as it brings with it a bunch of bug fixes and performance improvements, something which we're certain you badly need at this point.

Update: The new build of OS X 10.11.2 El Capitan is available for Public Beta testers as well.
